Although we LOVE to have the parents, grandparents, family members, friends, and society members fill the hallways and classrooms, to experience how their loved one and friends are learning and living God's Story at Rock Valley Christian, we are asking for limited visits from our society this year. Registration for the new school year is held in last July and early August. A parent/guardian will need to come to school to fill out and/or drop off paperwork for your student(s), pay fees, pay the first month's tuition, lunch and any outstanding bills. Scrip payouts will be made at this time.
The school holds an open house the night prior to the first day of school. This is a time for students to bring their school supplies to their rooms and for students and parents to meet teachers. The whole family is welcome. This is a come and go event.
Opening exercises are held on the first day of school beginning at 9:00 am in the gym. This is a program-type event where a short message is given, songs are sung, new families introduced, and students are dismissed by class to begin their day. Families are welcome to this event. Please have your child wear their theme shirt.
Chapels are held monthly with each grade hosting throughout the year. Families are encouraged to attend. Chapels begin at 8:30 am and last approximately 30 minutes. Parents are excused as students gather in their peer groups.
Teachers may hold special events in their rooms throughout the year. The teacher will forward information to parents inviting them to such events.
ARROWs parents taking ACTION through PRAYER and Responsibility in the ONE TRUE GOD to raise WARRIORS to SERVE! Based on the verses from Psalm 127:3-5. This group has elected positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Vice-Treasurer, Secretary, and Vice-Secretary. ARROWs hold several fundraising events during the school year. Every family is asked to participate in some form and assignments will be sent home several weeks prior to the event. Monies raised are given back to school to assist with various projects. Click here for project/event information.
A society meeting is held once a year and lasts approximately one hour. This is for parents and other adult supports of RVCS. The meeting consists of voting and board members, reviewing the budget, voting on/discussing other issues that arise.
This event is held in February and is for everyone. A bake sale and pre-auction items are sold in the morning and a live auction is held in the evening. Dinner is also served for a free-will donation. Many various items are auctioned. Parents are asked to donate toward classroom projects and to bring some baked items.
We hold 1-2 programs a year and everyone is invited to attend. The December program is for grades preschool - 8th; the spring program (variable) is for kindergarten - 8th. Due to the large attendance, the programs are held at Trinity Christian Reformed Church (RV). The programs include singing, skits, and/or orchestra performance.
On Friday during Christian Education Week (spring), we invite you and your family/friends to join us in the morning for various activities. Visitors may begin joining us at 9:00 am for "Jam the Gym" where we sing, reflect on the year and hear a short message. From here, visitors are invited to join classrooms for activities and to visit the junior high Science or Food Fair.
