Interim Administration
RVCS has a rich legacy of nurturing faith, academic growth, and community in the lives of its students. As the school anticipates stable and thoughtful leadership with the hiring of Mr. Paul Lapka, Dr. DeGroot and Dr. Van Soelen are prepared to step in as collaborative co-leaders, ensuring continuity of vision, operational strength, and spiritual direction while the board prepares to on-board Mr. Lapka.
Professional Qualifications
Our combined experience in Christian education leadership includes:
· Serving in leadership roles within Christian schools and universities, including teacher, curriculum director, principal, head of school, professor, and consultant positions
· Guiding schools through periods of leadership transition with clarity, consistency, and care
· Partnering with Christian school boards to align governance, mission, and strategic planning
· Providing mentoring and support to faculty and staff grounded in Biblical leadership principles
· Engaging school communities with transparent communication and relational trust
Proposed Scope of Responsibilities
As Co-Interim Principals, we propose to work in close partnership with one another, the RVCS Leadership Team, Mr. Lapka and the Board of Directors to ensure strong, mission-driven leadership through the following areas:
1. Organizational Leadership
· Provide consistent and present (to the greatest extent possible) leadership on campus
· Support and supervise faculty and staff with clarity and care
· Ensure effective implementation of school-wide systems and routines
· Represent the leadership team in board meetings and provide regular updates
2. Strategic Transition Support
· Maintain momentum in school operations while preparing for the permanent leader
· Identify and empower internal leadership capacity to ensure long-term stability
· Provide insight to the Board regarding the leadership transition process, as requested
3. Community Presence and Engagement
· Communicate regularly and transparently with parents and stakeholders
· Foster unity and a spirit of collaboration within the school community
· Uphold the school’s Christ-centered identity in all interactions and decisions
Timeline and Availability
· Proposed Start Date: July 1, 2025
· Proposed Duration: Through the 2025–26 school year, or until Mr. Lapka is onboarded
· Availability will be determined collaboratively with the Board and Co-Interims to ensure sufficient on-campus presence while maintaining flexibility
Conclusion
