All of our students are created uniquely by God. Some need a helping hand, while some need an extra challenge. That is where our Enrichment Program comes in. The Enrichment Program supports students and teachers by offering a variety of academic enrichment, extensions, and challenges to those who need it.
The program works with a range of students:
- those who demonstrate outstanding abilities in one or more academic subjects
- those who have a keen interest or ability within a subject area
- those who demonstrate creativity in their work and/or in their thinking
- those who need to be challenged in higher thinking level skills
- and those who need to develop their leadership and/or communication skills in order to share their gifts and talents with others
Critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication are key components of the enrichment curriculum. Enrichment occurs both within the classroom and outside of it, depending on the needs of the student and the curriculum.
How does a student qualify for the program? Teacher observation, test results, student work, and parental input are important sources for identifying students for the Enrichment Program.
Goals:
- We will help children recognize, develop, and use their gifts and talents to serve God and others.
- We will help children to grow in their calling as disciples of Jesus Christ, inviting them into God's story now as kingdom builders.
- We will expose children to engaging and rigorous learning opportunities in order to develop their potential for contribution to God's creation and those who live in it.
- We will provide a distinctively Christian environment that will respect students and their gifts, and reinforce the children's confidence in his/her potential for contribution to God's creation and those who live in it.
- We will embrace and celebrate all students' diverse cultural backgrounds and languages, modeling the acceptance of Christ to all people.
- We will assist children in gaining an understanding of their abilities and limitations as unique image bearers of God.
- We will provide opportunities for students to serve others by sharing their knowledge and abilities humbly in an authentic way to an appropriate audience.
- We will challenge students' thinking and inquiry skills to include: creative, critical, fluent, flexible, and higher level thinking skills.
- We will build skills in problem-solving and productive thinking, encouraging original solutions and authentic responses.
- We will provide support and encouragement that addresses the unique social and emotional challenges of gifted students.
- We will provide opportunities for developing various forms of leadership and communication skills through collaboration and presentation as students prepare to serve others in our world.
