I am a Rock Valley native and I attended the University of South Dakota from 1977-1980. Brad and I got married in 1980 and live near Rock Valley. Brad and I have three grown children; Matt married to Lisa DeStigter; Kayla married to Josh Hansen; Kristin married to Lance Rozeboom. we have been blessed with 7 grandchildren and an 8th due in December. I enjoy spending time with family, being outdoors, playing golf and reading. This fall (2019) we will have three grandchildren at Rock Valley Christian.
When our youngest child was a year old, I decided to finish my degree. I changed my major because I felt called to teach. I attended Dordt College on a very part-time basis so I could still be a mostly stay-at-home mom and graduated from Dordt College in 1993. My first teaching position was 7-8 language arts and Netherlands Reformed Christian for 9 years. I had been retired since 2006, but I volunteered and substituted during that time here at school. In with Mrs. Ver Burg doing remediation and also work with the Enrichment program. This position allows me to teach each child at their level, help the teachers reach each student, and help each child to develop their own unique abilities.
Christian Education is important because all of creation is God's. At Rock Valley Christian we can honor that by teaching how God ordered our world. Each child can be treated as God's image bearer and our staff can help them find their place in His plan. we can help students learn how to best use their gifts and talents to serve God. Christian education lays a strong, firm foundation in the lives of our children.
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17
